ASSESSORS MEETING MINUTES

MAY 12, 2005

 

7:00 P.M.  Called meeting to order.  Present:  Paula Keefe, Ellen Abelson,

                  Richard Gorden and Mark Mazur

 

1.   The Board reviewed and approved the minutes to their 4/21/05 meeting.

 

2.   The Board signed a letter to the State Department of Revenue requesting that we be

      allowed to enter into a data exchange agreement with them and designating Admin-

      istrative Assessor Mark Mazur to discuss implementation with them.  This agreement

      will enable us to verify whether or not someone has filed a state income tax return.

3.   Chairman of the Board Paula Keefe signed a cover letter for the submission of our

      fiscal year 2005 exemption data to the State Department of Revenue.

4.   The Board signed a fiscal year 2005 notification of Pro Forma tax liability to the

      owners of parcel #38-43, a property sold by the Town to a taxable entity in fiscal

      year 2005.

5.   The Board signed seven requests for special state permission under M.G.L. Chapter

      58 Section 8 to abate the real estate taxes for fiscal year 1998 for property now owned

      by the Town.

6.   The Board reviewed the Administrative Assessor’s evaluation of the non-price

      portions of the 2005 through 2009 data re-inspection project proposals.  Vision

      Appraisal’s non-price proposal was rated highly advantageous while Mayflower

      Valuation’s non-price proposal was rated advantageous.

7.   The Board opened the price portions of the 2005 through 2009 data re-inspection

      project proposals.

8.   The Board reviewed a fiscal year 2005 clause 18 exemption application that was

      denied.  The applicant was disappointed about being denied an exemption.  The

      Board directed the Administrative Assessor to speak to the applicant and if necessary

      schedule an appointment to have her meet with the Board.

 

7:40  P.M.   The Board went into Executive Session

 

8:10  P.M.   The Board returned from their Executive Session and adjourned.
